The Oncoming Juggernaut Of Judgment

Mar 31, 2004

Hi, SheepTrax!

Last December, the New York Post reported that a 23-year-old man was struck by an oncoming subway train. Why? He leaned over the 34th Street Station track to watch for the oncoming train, not comprehending that the train was in fact coming from the other direction! It is sad to report but Subway Train, 1 Hapless Critically Injured Man, 0.

The New York Subway system is generally safe save for those careless individuals who drop purses and cell phones on tracks and jump in harm's way to retrieve them. A few hundred pounds of flesh and blood standing against a few hundred tons of moving, unfeeling glass and steel will lose out every time. To ride safely you need to observe the signs and be consciously aware of your surroundings. So it is in the Last Days.

With the recent rash of questionable Christian Apocryphal films and books hitting the market rash here meaning something of an irritant that makes me itch with discomfort I have met many a saint who wile away their lives wondering who the Antichrist is, arguing exactly what the infamous Mark of the Beast might be, and watching the headlines in Israel to determine exactly where we are on God's prophetic timetable.

Is knowing the signs of the times important? According to Jesus, Yes. Matthew 16:2-3, "He answered and said to them, 'When it is evening you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red'; in the morning, 'It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.' Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times!'"

Yet understanding the signs of the times is no excuse for being paralyzed with fear by them. Much of the body of Christ is like that poor man on the subway track who looked the wrong way down the track for the appearing of his train, and got crushed for his trouble.

The Apostle Paul wrote, in 2Titus 4:8, "Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing." There is reward for those who love Jesus' appearing, when he shall split the sky and return for his own, to judge the nations in righteousness.

The issue of the Last Days is not the hot 'prophetic issues' that sell books and theater tickets, generate conference fees, and are all the buzz on inflammatory conservative radio programs. It is not about sleuthing through the scripture to out-guess God but is instead about those who love "his appearing." We are not to be looking for the rise of the Antichrist, but instead watching for Jesus!

Many times in the New Testament, we are promised that we shall see Jesus appear in the clouds. He shall return as he went. Acts 1:7-10, "And He (Jesus) said to them, 'It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.' Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And (while they were looking) steadfastly toward heaven He went up"

If we are to obey God in the Last Days, we need to heed this neglected admonition, "It is not for you to know times or seasons," and refocus on the task at hand, namely, "and you shall be witnesses to Me." Those who keep looking down the wrong tracks are going to be pulverized unaware when the end arrives not having a clue as to the real sign of the times. Start living for the appearing of Christ the King with eternal goals and values. To be preoccupied with looking down any other track is an invitation to sure personal disaster.

Matthew 24:30, "Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory!"

This is a very dangerous statement... this statement along with reconstructionist teachings will cause many people to fall under the deception of the Anti-Christ, causing them to believe that he is the returned Messiah. We are warned to beware of false prophets and teachers and we are warned to beware of a particular person who will come and deceive ALL those who do not love the truth. It is very important that we are able to recognize the Anti-Christ when he comes or we will be deceived into believing he is Christ.
We should not be "watching" for the "return of Jesus" for at least another 7 years, because He will not return until certain things have been accomplished... we should be listening to His call IF we are to be part of His reunion in the air...

If we are to obey God in the Last Days, we need to heed this neglected admonition, "It is not for you to know times or seasons," and refocus on the task at hand, namely, "and you shall be witnesses to Me." while it is true we cannot KNOW the "times or the seasons" we ARE suppose to recognize the signs. We are suppose to understand prophecy and heed the warnings of the prophets to be holy and blameless before God, because ALL sin will be punished, even that of the believers. Sin will not enter into heaven so IF a believer has sin in their heart it must be dealt with BEFORE they can be taken into the presence of God.
David I seriously don't want to get into another debate with you that causes division, but this teaching is a horrible lie that will cause many to be deceived into believing the Anti-Christ is the Messiah.
This teaching will cause men to "strive" in this world to do with the flesh what can only be done with God's Spirit. This teaching makes men believe there is still hope for this current world and with a "little bit of help from God" man can save it. This world is damned to destruction and most of the flesh of mankind with it. Man's only hope is repentance and return to a love of the Truth... ALL Truth, not just the part that makes them comfortable.

1Peter 5:8, Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Luke 21:8, And He said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in My name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.
9, But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.
10, Then said He unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
11, And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

Mark 13:32, But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
33, Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
34, For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left His house, and gave authority to His servants, and to every man His work, and commanded the porter to watch.
35, Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the Master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
36, Lest coming suddenly He find you sleeping.
37, And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

Luke 21:34, And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
35, For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
36, Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Ralph Waldo Emerson may have said it best:

"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of success."

Hi Watchman77,

Nice to see you.

I suspect that all of those verses you quoted relate more closely to the Martyred Saints and not to the Church as the Church will have been removed in the Rapture prior to the Tribulation events and it is the Martyred Saints of Revelation that are to contend with the Antichrist and not the Church.

I have more explanation on this and other various end time topics in www.BasicChristian.org/theology.html

Have a Blessed and Fulfilled Resurrection (Easter) week.

God Bless you,
your brother in Jesus Christ,
David A. Brown

Hi Watchman77,

Hello David... it is good to see you too :-)

David... it is my humble opinion that God does nothing illogical... and IF these verses were directed at the Martyred Saints and not to the Church it would be illogical for one simple reason, the Anti-Christ will already be revealed and there will be no reason for them to "watch"
Secondly in Luke 21:36 we are told to Watch and Pray that we may be accounted worthy to escape all the things that are about to happen to the world during the tribulations...

2Thessalonians 2:1, Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto Him,
2, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
3, Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4, Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

the man of sin/Anti-Christ will come before Jesus, imitating Jesus and deceiving people into believing he is Jesus or the Messiah depending on what one wants to believe, he will deceive many and the only ones he won't deceive are those who have a deep undying love for the Truth. And while it is true that the Bride of Christ will be removed from this earth in the Rapture, that does not mean that we will not have the opportunity to recognize the Anti-Christ when he comes on the scene, also not ALL the church will be raptured according to Rev 3, the church of the Laodiceans will be left behind to be purged and purified, these are the ones most likely to be deceived by this teaching, because they will believe the Anti-Christ is Jesus.
